This book is dedicated to my dog who barks at every goose around. 

Once there was a goose named Greg. Greg was different from the others. He was skinnier, lengthier, and a bit silly. His brothers and sisters often teased him from behind. Greg spent most of his days playing in the pond. His family was preparing for the great migration later in the fall. This was going to be Greg's very first migration, even though he did not know what it meant.

It was later in the fall and it was time for the great migration. Since Greg was born earlier in the summer he never experienced a migration before. Greg didn't realize that his family was flying away without him. So he continued to swim and play in the pond. 

Soon, Greg noticed that his family was not there. He looked over and they were flying off into the sunset without him. 

"But wait!" he cried out, "Why are you leaving without me?"

"What am I supposed to do now?" he cried. 

Greg did not know what to do. He started panicking and became very confused. 

All Greg could think about was, "They left without me." 

After a while, Greg remembered when he was lost before, multiple times. 

Greg remembered what his family told him,

"Stay where you are, and we will come to find you."

Greg decided to stay the night and wait for his family to return. But they never came and it got even colder the next day. As he woke, he realized that he could not stay because he might freeze. So Greg began to search for his friends to help him and to ask them where his family went.

Greg soon came across some of his deer friends. 

"Hey, do you know where my family went?" Greg asked calmly.

"They migrated yesterday. Why are you not with them? " the deer asked. 

"They left without me. Wait, what is migration?" Greg asked.

"Migration is like a big vacation. Some animals move south during the winter to stay warm," the deer explained.

"Hey, can I migrate with you?" Greg asked excitedly. 

"Sorry Greg, we don't migrate, but most birds do,"  the deer said trying to cheer Greg up.

Greg decided to search for some birds he played with throughout the summer. He found some robins and asked if he could migrate with them.
