Falcons are the national birds of the UAE. In the past, people used falcons for hunting but now they hunt for sport.

Falcons hunt and eat animals for survival. They mainly eat other birds, such as ducks. They do most of their hunting during the day.

Did you know falcons have excellent eyesight and can see prey from a long distance away?

                      Special talent.

Flying at high speeds, they catch their prey in mid-air. Falcons have long toes and sharp talons so that they can catch their prey.

           Falcons and Food Chains

Falcons are carnivores which means they eat other animals to get energy.  

Remember that falcons are consumers because they eat food but plants are producers as they make their own food. تذكر أن الصقور مستهلكة لأنها تأكل الطعام ولكن النباتات منتجة لأنها تصنع طعامها.

Falcons  will usually eat small birds but sometimes they will also eat rats and mice. Remember that falcons still need plants because plants are eaten by insects, then insects are eaten by birds.
