Once upon a time there was a heinous
and vile mermaid who lived in a far away
swamp. She called herself, Maleficent,
for her long pink mermaid tail that
reflected everything that happened in
the swamp.
This mermaid once lived in the vast open sea, but she was cast away to this far away swamp because she was selfish and mean. Let’s go back to the beginning so you can understand her story.

The mermaid was born in a big, beautiful undersea palace where she was spoiled with everything she could ever ask for. Her mermaid parents were notorious for coddling her and she never really had to work for anything. Her great aunt became more and more aware of her actions, and one day decided to put the mermaid’s morals to the test.

She has a hard lesson to learn...
She told the mermaid that in order to appreciate her life, she needed to complete a task in which she did something for someone else. She decided her task was to clean up the ocean around her. At this point, the mermaid refused and was cast away to the dirty and unpleasant swamp. It was then that she decided to work on a curse to get revenge on the people who she felt wronged her.

I'll show them!
You see, this mermaid felt many people wronged her. When she lived in the palace, she had many people who admired her and were quick to do what she said. One day she was swimming along the bank of a land when she saw a merman across the way. She fell in love, and did whatever she could to get his attention.

Well, he did not return her admiration. The merman seemed to be in love with her aunt! This is why she knew she had to put a curse on the land and the surrounding waters.

With these thoughts troubling her, the mermaid looked up a book of spells that would help her place this curse. She found one that required her to find one fish carcass, one strand of seaweed, and two cups of sand from the ocean floor. She mixed all of these parts together in her cauldron, and whispered the magic words to activate the curse. She was sure that this would bring bad luck to her aunt, her unrequited love with the merman, and anyone else who she felt wronged her.

To her surprise, she quickly found out that the curse had the opposite effect! Her aunt had married the merman happily, and the palace and surrounding area had been even more productive and powerful than ever! This is how she learned that having bad intentions for others can bring more harm onto yourself.
