Author's Note- This information book will be centered around all things electricity! It will include important terms that go with electricity. Stay until the end because there will be some myths that revolve around electricity as well!

Battery
What is it?
Batteries are devices that provide electricity to objects, such as computers, phones, etc. (Cambridge Dictionary).
How can this be used in a sentence?
The car's battery was dead and needs to be replaced.

Information came from, "Battery" by Cambridge Dictionary.
Complete Circuit
What is it?
A complete circuit is a path that is completed and lets energy move throughout it. It goes to the energy source to the source it's trying to power, then back to the source! Unlike the incomplete circuit that has something blocking its path.
How can this be used in a sentence?
The light was on because there was a complete circuit.

Information came from "Build a Circuit" by Science World.
Conductors of electricity
This information comes from Definition Net.
What is it?
A conductor allows the flow of energy to move in one or more directions. (Definition Net).
How can this word be used in a sentence?
The wires that connect to the TV and sound system to the wall outlet are conductors of electricity.

Electrical Charge
What is it?
An electrical charge is a physical property that will cause objects to either be attractive or repel force towards each other. Usually negative or positive.

Information from this slide came from the articles, "Electric Charge" by Energy Education and "Introduction to Electric Charge and Electric Field" by OpenSax.
How can this word be used in a sentence?
The child's hair was sticking up because of the electrical charge between the child and the slide.

Electrical Circuit
What is it?
An electrical circuit is a "complete path along which electricity flows." (Nissan North America, Inc, 2011).
How can this word be used in a sentence?
There is an electrical circuit that is present when there is a lightbulb, batteries, and a wire all connected together.

This information came from "The Simple Circuit" by Nissan North America, Inc.
Electrical Current
What is it?
On the website, "Current Electricity" by Science World, they write, "A continuous flow of electric charge moving from one place to another along a pathway." (Science World). NEAT!
How can this word be used in a sentence?
The TV has an electrical current moving through it to get it to work.

Information came from "Current Electricity" by Science World.
Electrical Insulators
What is it?
In the lesson, "Electricity/Insulators" by Pathwayz defines electrical insulators as, "An electrical insulator is a material whose internal electric charges do not flow freely, and therefore make it very hard to conduct an electric current under the influence of an electric field." (Pathwayz).
How can this be used in a sentence?
Glass is an electrical insulator and blocks electrons from flowing freely.

Incomplete Circuit
What is it?
An incomplete circuit can happen when something has affected the path or the path became open for whatever reason. When that happens, it results in the circuit not working because of the disruption. (Citizens' Electric Company).
How can this word be used in a sentence?
An incomplete circuit was caused because the switch was off.

Information comes from "Fundamentals of Electricity" by Citizens' Electric Company.
Insulator
What is it?
"A material or covering that electricity, heat, or sound cannot go through." (Cambridge Dictionary).
How can this word be used in a sentence?
"Generally, plastics tend to be good insulators." (Cambridge Dictionary).

Information comes from "Insulator" by Cambridge Dictionary.
Parallel and Series Circuits
What is a parallel circuit?
In "What are "Series" and "Parallel" Circuits" Tony R. Kuphaldt, defines the parallel circuit as, "In a parallel circuit, all components are connected across each other, forming exactly two sets of electrically common points." (Kuphaldt, 2021).
What is a series circuit?
A series circuit has only one path for electrons to go through.
How can these words be used in a sentence?
The parallel circuit has multiple paths. Meanwhile, The series circuit is all connected by just one path!

Myths about Electricity!
The article, "5 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know Were Energy Myths" by the Marine Corps Community Services, states these myths,
1. When appliances are off, they don't use energy.
They do use energy!
2. A leaking sink doesn't increase an electricity bill.
It does because it uses energy, BEWARE!
3. Putting the computer into sleep mode will keep it from using energy.
The computer is still using energy.
(Marine Corps Community Services).
Assessment Time!
Answer the multiple choice questions down below that goes over everything you've learned up to this point!

a. Physical
b. Chemical
c. Both physical and chemical
d. Neither physical and chemical
2. What type of flow is in an electrical current?
a. It doesn't have a flow.
