Thrown off the train in South Africa (1893)
Gandhi was sitting in first class on his train ride since he was a lawyer, not causing any problems for anyone. A man kept telling Gandhi there were no "colored" lawyers. Gandhi refused to go sit in the 3rd class since he got a first class ticket. At the end the white man won and got Gandhi thrown off the train. This is when Gandhi realized what he wanted to fight for.

Burning the passes South Africa (1908)
Gandhi did not want violence but he wanted to show everyone Indians and British men were not equal and that was not right. A pass was something only Indian people had to carry around everywhere they went. Gandhi made a speech asking everyone why only Indian people had to carry passes and not the British people. He then put a pass in the fire and continued with the passes he had in a basket. The soldier started beating him but Gandhi did not stop and he ended up being arrested.

The state of India
Gandhi traveled on a train to see how the living conditions in India really were because he knew that there was a fancy side of India and a poverty side of India. The Indians who lived on the land had no money, no good crops being sold, and they were forced to grow indigo. Landlords took parts of crops while Indians had no food and demanded cash from Indians to pay for the land. Gandhi gets arrested but his followers over-packed the court room and the judge decides to set Gandhi free. Gandhi gets the landlords law to change where Indians don't suffer as much and the landlords are forced to give money back.

Day of fasting and prayer
Gandhi wanted a rest day for every Indian to rest and pray which meant no cooperation. No one was working so no buses or trains were active. Gandhi was arrested for selling his newspapers. The Indians wanted a peaceful meeting and were told to be strong while the British soldiers were declaring an open fire on the peaceful people. Hardly any bullet missed an Indian no matter if they were women or children.

Police killed in protest
Indians were protesting not being able to make their own cloth and having to buy it from the British. The protest was peaceful till some Indians were being attacked by the police so all the other Indians saw so they started chasing the police. They threw fire into the police station and bang on bars. The police were forced to get out of the station due to the fire. Indians that were protesting beat the officers and killed some. Gandhi wanted nothing to do with violence, so he started fasting and said he wouldn't stop till there was no more violence with his campaigns.

March to the sea
The salt march's main goal was to push the British to change the laws of salt. The Indians wanted to be allowed to make their own salt. An Indian who has a whole wagon of salt packets was handing them out to anyone who wanted salt. The British are ordered to arrest anyone no matter their social level. The prisons soon become full due to all the arrest made of innocent Indians not causing any harm towards anyone.
