
Thrown Off the Train
Gandhi was taking a train from London to South Africa. Gandhi was taking first class because he was a lawyer. The train workers said he would have to leave first class because he was colored or he would have to be thrown off the train. Gandhi didn't accept that and was thrown off.

Burning the Passes
Gandhi set up a gathering to tell people about how the passes should burned to show that the Indian people and British people are equal. This was the start to his non violence movement because he didn't fight back at all when the British police was beating him for burning the passes. Even though Gandhi was bleeding and beaten he still burned the passes.

State of India
As Gandhi travels throughout India trying to see the "real India" he sees that there are many people in poverty. There are 700,000 villages with people that work very hard to make just enough money to support their families. Gandhi gave a speech telling people to support the real India and resist the control that the British have over them.

Fasting and prayer/Amritsar Massacre
As the British were enforcing a new unfair law, Gandhi told India that they should do a day of fasting and prayer so the British wouldn't have anybody to work. The Amritsar Massacre happened because Indian people weren't allowed to have gatherings. The British opened fire on a huge group of people even though they weren't being aggressive at all. 379 people were killed during the Massacre.

Protesters/Police killed
People were protesting the British Rule and the police started beating the protesters. The protesters starting chasing the police until they cornered and killed them. Gandhi didnt support this kind of resistance and fasted until the riots stopped.

March to the Sea/Raid on Dharasana Salt Works
Gandhi led a march to the sea to collect salt. The reason for this is to defy the British because making salt was illegal. The Raid on Dharasana was a non violence way of getting the British to look like the bad guys because they beat the Indians even though they were just walking up to the salt works entrance.
