McCulloch v Maryland
The Federal government and the states had the right to set up a Federal bank, but the states couldn't tax the federal government.

In conclusion, they ruled in favor of the federal government and that "the power to tax involves the power to destroy."

United States v Lopez
The court found the Gun-Free School Zones Act to be unconstitutional in regards to the Commerce Clause.

The court decided that the possession of a gun wasn't economically unconstitutional to interstate commerce
Engel v Vitale
This case stated that a school cannot hold prayer in school through the establishment of religion clause

The court decided that there would be no prayer allowed even if it wasn't to be required. It is said to violate the First Amendment.
Wisconsin v Yoder
The Amish didn't want to send their children to school because of their beliefs and religion.

The court ended up ruling in favor of the Amish parents. Their own personal beliefs under the free exercise clause were deemed constitutional.

Tinker v Des Moines Independent Community School District
A group of students wanted to show their truce with the Vietnam War through the use of wearing armbands. After refusing to take it off, the students were suspended.

The court ended up ruling in favor of the students and that they should use their freedom of speech given to them in the First Amendment.
New York Times Co v United States
Also known as the "Pentagon Papers Case", the Nixon Administration attempted to prevent the publication of a classified Defense Department file.
The court ended up ruling for the New York Times to be allowed to publish the paper without government censorship through prior restraint.

Scheck v United States
During World War 1, two citizens exclaimed that the draft violated the 13th Amendment.
Charles Schneck lost the case and ended up being charged under the Espionage Act, which prohibits obtaining information relating to national defense that could hurt the United States.
Gideon v Wainwright
After a man was charged with a crime, he wasn't given a lawyer, so he requested one. After he didn't get one, he explained that this violated his constitutional rights.
The Supreme Court ended up unanimously voting in favor of a guarantee of legal counsel. The man was then retrialed with a lawyer.
Roe v Wade
In 1970, a woman filed a lawsuit for a woman's right to an abortion.

The case fell within the 14th Amendment and one's privacy protection. A woman should be able to decide if she wants to continue her pregnancy. In 2022, the case was overturned and is now a state-level decision.
