Dedicated to young men like me, you can learn a lot from your Grandpa

My name is Jaxon, and I am currently sixteen years old. When I was very young, my parents decided that their lives would be better if they didn't live together anymore.

Young me didn't understand the gravity of everything, and I was very confused the first time I saw a kid with a mom and a dad together. I struggled with that realization for a while.

Then I met my grandfather. He helped me through everything, I mean EVERYTHING. He was always there, through all of it. I was a little scared the first time I met him, but then I saw how good of a guy he was.

He helped me out of one of the darkest times of my life. But he didn't do it like you'd expect. Instead of just sitting and talking about stuff, he took me outside and taught me things. He taught me about cars, and engines. How to change oil, and how to change a tire.

Then he took me hunting, which to this day is one of my biggest passions. On cold November mornings where other kids would stay home with their friends, I went hunting with grandpa.

As I got older, he taught me how to work with wood, and how to weld. All of these things he was teaching me sparked an interest, which distracted me from the darkness in my life.

He taught me how to change sparkplugs, and how to work hard. He taught me how hard work will always pay off. He instilled a very valuable work ethic in me.

He taught me how to split and stack wood, and he'd always say, "If you're gonna take the time to do it, do it right." He has always supported me, even when nobody else did.

When I first told my parents I wanted to go work in the trades, they did not react well, they wanted me to got to college. But my grandfather stood by my side the entire time and always stood up for me, and that meant the world to me, he's my biggest role model.
