Geography
First, lets talk about geography. Geography is the study of the physical features of the earth and human activity. The continents of the world are North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, and Europe. The major oceans in the world are the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean.
Government
Government
A government is an organization that sets up and enforces laws. The types of government are tribal rule, direct democracy, representative democracy/republic, constitutional monarchy, dictatorship, absolute monarchy, oligarchy, international organization. Each type of government has a different type of leadership.
Economics
Economics
Every type of government has an economy. An economy is a system in which people make, exchange, and use things that have value. The ways you can measure how well a country's economy is by its GDP, GDP per capita, and standard of living. These things can help you determine whether the country is developed or developing.
Religion
Religion
The five major world religions are Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. A couple things that all of these religions have in common is that they all have prayers and rituals, they have important holidays, and they all have the expectation to treat others well and to behave properly. Each religion is either Monotheistic or Polytheistic.
Culture
Culture
Culture is the way of life of a group of people. Parts of a culture include beliefs, ideas, clothing, language, etc. In this unit we also talked about ethnocentrism. Ethnocentrism is the tendency to view your own culture as being better than others.
Africa
Africa
Not a lot of people know about the history of Africa. Many people also think that Africa has been uncivilized or uneducated. The African Kingdoms mostly developed on the coast of the Red Sea. Gold and salt were very high in need. A lot of gold came from West Africa. Gold was good but you needed salt to survive. Trade was very important. Africa didn't just trade goods. They also traded religions, beliefs, customs, and ideas.
