The Galata Tower
The Galata Tower (or Christea Turris (t"Tower of Christ") is a ver popular symbol of Turkey. This beautiful tower was built in very old times by the rule of the Byzantine Emperor Anastasius, dating back to the year of 528. It has 11 storeys including the basement. It has been renovated nearly 10 times ever since. It is located in Galata (Karaköy) district of Istanbul, Turkey. With an observation top, it is approximately 63 meters. Since its construction, it has been the symbol and such an eye-sight for both tourists and local people. It was built with stones. Hezârfen Ahmed Çelebi, a famous Ottoman scientist, flew from the top of the building to Beyoğlu, nearly traversing 3358 meters, with a pair of manmade unpowered flight wings. It also influenced many Turkish poets and other literature lovers. Despite all the fires and earthquakes it endured during its time, it still stands as beautiful as it was.

Peri Bacaları
Fairy Chimneys in Cappadocia and Fairy Chimneys in Narman
differ from each other in terms of their formation. Fairy chimneys
in Cappadocia were formed as a result of volcanism, while those
in Narman were formed 2.5-3 million years ago as a result of the
erosion of materials carried by streams to a sedimentation basin.
Legend has it that the giants who lived in the Cappadocia region
in the past would send waves of flame to people when they got angry, thus destroying the areas where people lived. That's why people try not to anger them and often pray together to protect themselves from the flames. One day, the sultan of the fairyland realized the situation while passing here and was very upset about what happened. The sultan, who called his fairies for help, asked them to solve this situation. Then, as the giants sent waves of fire, thousands of fairies threw snow and ice here. In this way, the fairies, who weakened the power of the giants and allowed them to escape underground, lived in Cappadocia for many years in peace with the people.

A 12th century stone tower erected on a rock at the entrance of the Bosphorus by Byzantine Emperor Manuel Komnenos. This tower, which has served as a prison and a lighthouse, became the source of many legends in ancient days, such as Leander’s or Maiden’s. It’s now open to the public as a cafeteria & elegant restaurant which hosts concerts and meetings as well. Transportation to the Tower is made by private shuttle boats from both shores of the Bosphorus.
