   Folkloric Clothing in Izmir

     In the folkloric costume of the Aegean Region, women wear pink, red or floral patterned shalwar. In the Aegean region, men wear a blue keffiyeh over a felt fez, a shirt, a red or pink pocket embroidered with eagle wings, a wrap around their waist, a belt, a dagger, an embroidered needle-laced handkerchief, blue or black short shalwar and bellows black boots. For women, it is primarily a fez, poshi, white shirt, sleeved pink or red  salta or jacket, buckle belt, satin shalwar and leather shoes.

There are lots of regional traditional costumes in our country even it is small. Individual costumes differed according to the wealth of the region. For example, costumes from the south of Moravia are highly decorated, while costumes from mountains such as Wallachia are plain. Currently, in our republic, costumes are worn only on important occasions such as holidays - Easter, Harvest Festival, Carnival and other traditional folk celebrations.
