Everyday here in Cellaria, our cells grow, multiply, and create! Here in our little town, we have two main classes of cells: mitosis and meiosis. Each class has a main job that they are responsible for!

The Mitosis class is responsible for copying and multiplying! If you’ve hurt yourself and got a cut, don’t worry! These cells use a special method called Mitosis, to heal and make us all better speedy FAST!

Let’s FLY over to Mitosis-aria and take a closer look at how these cells complete their mission!
This is Mitosis-aria! We call the cells here Replicators because these cells produce daughter cells that are identical to the mommy cell!
The first step is something called "interphase"
During this stage, the cell grows and copies its DNA to prepare for division! Think of this stage as the gym! This where the cell works hard to gain everything it needs to produce its daughter cells!

Let's ZOOM in on Maze the Cell, to look at what's going on the inside for the next steps: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and telophase!

Whewww! We made it to prophase! Here during the prophase stage The DNA coils up into chromosomes.

In this stage, the cell’s DNA gets packed up into little shapes called chromosomes. Think of it as Packing, getting ready for a big move! Everything is nicely packed, paired, and organized!

Let's SOAR over to the next phase here is Mitosis-aria, Metaphase!
During the stage of Metaphase. the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cells!
Think of this stage as, forming a line to get your ice cream from the ice cream truck! All of the chromosome line up single file to prepare for division!

Can you guess where we are headed next in Mitosis-aria?
You guessed it!
We're going to the Anaphase stage!
Here in the Anaphase state, the cell's chromosomes are pulled apart, after they line up for ice cream!

OUCH! DONT PULL TOO HARD!
Each pair of chromosomes are pulled apart to opposites sides of the cell by spindles.
Think of this stage as a game of Tug a war! Or pulling apart string cheese!

We have almost made it through the entire town of Mitosis-aria!
We have two more awesome stops! Telophase and Cytokinesis!
