PYTHAGORAS (PİSAGOR)
Who is Pythagoras?
Name: Pythagoras Birth: Around 570 BC, Samos Island (Today's Greece) Death: Around 495 BC
Occupation: Philosopher, mathematician, mystic thinker
Pythagoras' Contributions:
Pythagoras' Theorem:It is his most well-known contribution.
The discovery of this theorem was actually known before Pythagoras (for example, by the Babylonians), but Pythagoras was the first person to prove it mathematically.
Number Theory:Basic concepts such as the properties of odd and even numbers, triangular numbers, and square numbers were shaped by him.
Interesting Notes About Pythagoras' Life:
He had a mysterious personality. He did not allow his students to speak for long periods of time, he only wanted them to listen.
Pythagoreans avoided eating beans for "spiritual reasons".
He was also the leader of a religious sect; therefore, his teachings were both scientific and mystical.

Euclıd
Euclid was an ancient Greek mathematician active as a geometer and logician. Considered the "father of geometry", he is chiefly known for the Elements treatise, which established the foundations of geometry that largely dominated the field until the early 19th century.

Euclid is best known for his thirteen-book treatise, the Elements, considered his magnum opus. Much of its content originates from earlier mathematicians, including Eudoxus, Hippocrates of Chios, Thales and Theaetetus, while other theorems are mentioned by Plato and Aristotle.

Carl Friedrich Gauss
Carl Friedrich Gauss is the prince of mathematics. He made great contributions to number theory, algebra, differential geometry and probability theory. At a young age, he studied the distribution of prime numbers and developed the geometric representation of complex numbers. Gauss is one of the cornerstones of modern mathematics.

Carl Friedrich Gauss’s contributions to mathematics:
• Made significant contributions to number theory.
• Established modern number theory with his work Disquisitiones Arithmeticae.
• Worked on complex numbers.
• Developed the Gaussian distribution.
• Systematized modular arithmetic.
• Contributed to geometry, algebra, and analysis.
• Invented the method of least squares.

Romanian mathematician. He was a professor at the University and Polytechnic School of Bucharest; member of the Romanian Academy and several foreign academies and scientific societies, doctor honoris causa of the University of Warsaw.

Gheorghe Țițeica (1873-1939)
Through his works on differential geometry, Gheorghe Titeica made himself known to the international scientific world.
In particular, he dealt with the study of networks in space with n dimensions, defined by an equation of Laplace.
He introduced a class of surfaces and a class of curves that today bear his name. He is one of the creators of centro-affine differential geometry.
He was a great popularizer of science. Together with I. Ionescu, A. Ioachimescu and V. Cristescu he founded the magazine "Gazeta matematica", with G. G. Longinescu the publication "Natura" for the dissemination of science, and with D. Pompeiu he edited the magazine "Mathematica".
Works: "Projective Differential Geometry of Networks" (1924), "Introduction to Projective Differential Geometry of Curves" (1931).

Contributions to Mathematics
-Khwarizmi is known as the first person to use the number zero (0) and x in mathematics.
-He explained the method of solving linear and quadratic equations in detail.
-He also contributed to the field of geometry by creating tables of sine and cosine trigonometric functions.

WHO AM I?
I was a Turkish mathematician. I am known for the Arf invariant of a quadratic form in characteristic 2 (applied in knot theory and surgery theory) in topology, the Hasse–Arf theorem in ramification theory, Arf semigroups and Arf rings.
My Contrubıtıons to Math
On science in general and mathematics in particular I profound. Although I had very few formal students, many of the mathematicians of Turkey, at some time of their careers, had fruitful discussions on their field of interest with me and had received support and encouragement.
I facilitated the now-celebrated visit of Robert Langlands to Turkey during which Langlands worked out some arduous calculations on the epsilon factors of Artin L-functions.

MY ACHIEVEMENTS
I received numerous awards for my contributions to mathematics, among them are:
İnönü Award in 1948
Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Science Award in 1974
Commandeur des Palmes Academiques (France) in 1994
I was a member of the Mainz Academy and the Turkish Academy of Sciences.
I was the president of the Turkish Mathematical Society from 1985 until 1989.

El-Bîrûnî
Biruni is a philosopher, astronomer, mathematician, scientist known for his work in the Golden Age of Islam, known for his work in the fields of natural sciences, astronomy, geography and history.

He calculated the sun's altitude and the city's longitude. He determined when the seasons began from the sun's movements. He found the diameter of the earth to be very close to today's value. He was the founder of the science of geodesy.
