This is Mariana. This is her mom, dad, and her dog. She lives in Mexico. She loves everything about Mexico the food, her family, her friends, and her school!

Everyday Mariana walks from school with her friends. This day as she walked she could see her parents standing outside waiting for her

When Mariana gets to her parents, she says, "Mom, why do you look so sad? Her mom tells her, "I'm sorry Mariana"
Mariana's dad tells her, "I know you are going to be upset, but we are going to move to a new place tomorrow"

Mariana says, " I dont want to move I want to stay here with my family and friends!" Mariana runs into the house as fast as she can

Mariana runs into her room and tells her dog, "I don't want to leave....everything is going to be different than here."

Mariana's mom walks in and says, "I know this is scary, but you are the light in every room, and everyone is going to love you just as much as me."

The next day they arrive at their new house in California, it looks the same but isn't the same as home.

Mariana goes to look at her new room. She looks outside and says to her dog, "Everything is different here. I'm different. What if nobody likes me because I don't look the same?"

Mariana's mom walks in and asks Mariana, "Are you excited for your first day?" Mariana looks at her mom and says, "No, what if they don't like me mom? What if I'm just too different for everyone and I don't make friends?"

Mariana's mom hugs her and tells her, "It's going to be okay, they will love you, just be the bright star you always are." Mariana gives out this sigh and says, "I hope so, mom."

The next day, Mariana is ready for school and says, "I'm going to look different than everyone, they won't like me."

Mariana's mom then replies, "Everyone is different in their own way; they come in different colors, sizes, and backgrounds, but you are still special and you will have friends there, I promise."

Mariana hugs her parents and lets out a deep sigh and says, "If I'm myself, they will love me," and hugs both her parents and walks to school.

Mariana is looking for an empty seat, not knowing who or where she is going to sit, when a girl comes up to her and says, "Hi, my name is Ava. Do you want to sit with me?"
