I ran through the dark allies of New York City. 

Then, I saw Sonny. "Got it?" I asked him. 

"Yeah." He opened a small box. Inside were two 

knifes and guns. The rest of our gang had been 

imprisoned for a couple days. "Let's go!" I told 

him. When we reached the jail room, we crept 

in like cats. Bub let out a loud hoot. "Shhhhh!" 

Said Nick. Quickly, Sonny and I sawed through 

to bars. We carefully ran through the streets. 

All eight of us huddled in a corner. A siren rang 

out. This is just a piece of my life.

My gang and I depend on weapons to live. 

Each one of us carries at least one pocket 

knife, and other weapons. I, Raven, am the 

leader of the Eagles. I am a orphan. I depend 

on the gang for food and money. Eagles is 

one of the best gangs in New York, and I 

joined up when my mother died. I know she 

would be disappointed to see a thirteen year 

old boy leader of the Eagles, but nobody rules 

Raven. I have two things set on my life. 

Danger, and Food. 

I sleep on a small wooden bench by the train 

station. I miss being somewhat rich, and sleeping 

on a feather bed. Nobody but me knows my past. 

I hide half of my shame by working in a four am 

job at the church. Again, nobody knows about it. 

I am two different people. At my job, and am the 

most respectful, and kind person, and when I am 

with the gang, I man up, and become cruel. I've 

never been arrested because the police trust me, 

and I become kind when they are around. Here is 

another thing. Our top enemy is the Blue sharks, 

and we are always at war. But, their leader, 

Michael, is my bother.

Michael left our family after my father died. He 

said he was old enough to take care of himself.  

Michael is my twin, and more than once we 

have had our knifes together. Michael is in very 

bad condition. He is very dirty and skinny, he 

has scars all over his face, and his life has 

brought him to hate everything. Even his only 

family left. Me. Michael will murder me if I get 

too close, and he knows I would never hurt him, 

and so I am helpless against him. I would rather 

turn him in than kill him. Michael is on every 

wanted list of every cop in New York. Especially 

after he murdered his own mother.
