Hi Dad
*wave*

Once upon a time, on October 14, 1890 in hospital room 213 in Denison, Texas a precious baby boy was born.

His name was
Dwight David Eisenhower.
While growing up he lived in Denison Texas. His family lived in a tiny house near the railroad tracks while his father cleaned train engines for a living.

By the time Dwight began to walk, his family packed their belongings and moved back to their home town of Abilene Kansas.

Dwight had great childhood memories with his family and participated in many sports such as baseball and football at Abilene High School.

After graduating from high school in 1909, Dwight joined his father and uncle at the Belle Springs Creamery while also moonlighting as a fireman.

In 1911, Dwight landed an appointment at the United States Military Academy in
West Point, New York, where
attendance was free of charge.

In 1915, Eisenhower proudly graduated from West Point, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant.
Dwight met the love of his life, Mamie Geneva Doud, and got married on July 1,
1916. They had two sons, but the first one died from scarlet fever at the age of three.

After the wedding Dwight continued to rise in rank and became commander-in-chief of the Allied Forces and led Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of North Africa.

On D-Day, June 6, 1944, Eisenhower commanded the Allied forces in the Normandy invasion. In December of that year, he was promoted to five-star rank. After Germany's surrender in 1945, he was made military governor of the U.S. Occupied Zone.

After a heroic army career, Dwight was encouraged to run for President of the United States.

In 1952, Dwight ran for the Republican Party against Adlai Stevenson. Eisenhower's slogan was"I like Ike."
To campaign he traveled to forty-five states speaking to large crowds and had a thirty second television advertisement.

Eisenhower promised peace and prosperity, to strengthen democracy, to reduce taxes, to cut spending, to lower the debt, and to secure efficiency.
