Lesson Planning: Bloom's Taxonomy & Learning Objectives
Lesson Planning: Writing ABCD Objectives
i used to think that objectives for lesson plans should be general, broad & cover a lot of content. now i think that objectives for lesson plans should be specific, clear & concise. In module 2, we learned about writing abcd objectives. the module explains the four parts to a lesson objective: audience, behavior, conditions & degree.
Lesson Planning: Writing ABCD Objectives
Before this module, my lesson objectives would be too general & vague. for example, if i was teaching a lesson on batting in baseball, one of the objectives would be "the learner will learn batting in baseball." a better objective would be "given instruction on and examples of stance, grip & footwork, the student will practice batting with partner and must make contact with the ball 80% of attempts." this is an example of how i would implement what i have learned in this module into my classroom.
visible thinking
I used to think that the only way to "see" what a student is thinking in the classroom was through a written reflection. Now I think that thinking can be "seen" through visible thinking routines. In module 3, we learned what visible thinking is, it's importance & various routines to execute it. Prior to learning about this, I had no idea of the importance of visible thinking. It requires students to be actively engaged with the topic by asking them about prior knowledge and to think about how to connect it and also differentiate with what they're learning. My favorite routine is "Think-Pair-Share" because I think that it's invaluable for students to think through & share ideas with each other. This routine promotes collaboration., which is something that I believe is imperative for student growth & development. I will definitely implement this into my classroom.
ISTE*S
I used to think that incorporating technology into lesson planning is unsafe because of the inappropriate behavior in the digital world.
ISTE*S
Now I think that because of the ISTE standards, the digital world is safe. These standards hold students accountable for being responsible digital citizens.
ISTE*S
I used to think that incorporating technology into the classroom would increase the level of frustration in "non-techy" students.

ISTE*S
Now I think that because of these standards, students are empowered by the use of technology. They promote creativity, constructive communication and collaboration across platforms, abstract thinking and effective research strategies. All of which are necessary for student growth & development.

Assessment
Formative
Summative

Lesson Plan: Procedures
I used to think that "procedures" in a lesson plan where rules and class policies. Now I think that "procedures" are where the majority of the lesson should take place. In module 6, I learned how to construct the activities of a lesson plan. Procedures are sequential descriptions of the activities in the lesson that will indicate what the teacher and student will do. Procedures should also be very specific. It should include the time frame and materials used for each activity. Here is an example of how I will incorporate this into my classroom.: Student Procedure-Students will watch YouTube video "Communication Blok."(18 minutes) Teacher Procedure-The teacher will give a brief description on communication & field sports. Materials-TV, Computer, Monitor/Projector
