The project “Suitcase of Life Skills” aims to help students develop key competences necessary for successful personal and professional realization in today’s world. In collaboration with partners from different countries, students will “pack” into their suitcase knowledge, skills, and values related to communication, emotional intelligence, teamwork, critical thinking, creativity, and active citizenship.
Students will take part in various activities – online meetings, creative tasks, games, surveys, and discussions – through which they will get to know themselves and others, learn to express opinions, make decisions, and respect differences.

Integration opportunities:
Example activity: “My Global Citizen Suitcase” – students choose a country and present what knowledge, values, and skills they would pack in their suitcase to live and work successfully there.

Integration opportunities:
Example activity: “The Safety Suitcase” – students prepare a symbolic “toolkit” containing elements that represent a healthy and safe workplace.

Integration opportunities:
Example activity: “The Young Entrepreneur’s Suitcase” – each team creates a symbolic business model reflecting ethics, sustainability, and innovation.

Integration opportunities:
Example activity: “My Map of Skills” – each student creates a visual map of their personal qualities and skills they want to add to their life skills suitcase.

Curriculum Integration of the Life Skills’ Toolbox Project
The Life Skills’ Toolbox eTwinning project is integrated into our 11th grade curriculum in a holistic and interdisciplinary way. The project supports classroom learning by connecting subject content with real-life skills and meaningful international collaboration. Through project activities, students actively apply what they learn in lessons, making learning more engaging, relevant, and student-centered.
Within the Foreign Language (English) curriculum, the project provides authentic opportunities for students to use English as a communication tool rather than just a school subject. Students improve their speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills through online meetings, collaborative tasks, presentations, and shared digital products. Using English in real-life contexts increases their confidence, fluency, and motivation to communicate with international peers.
The project is closely linked to the ICT and digital literacy objectives of the curriculum. Students use various Web 2.0 tools for research, content creation, and collaboration while learning about online safety, digital ethics, and responsible internet use. In this way, digital competence and digital citizenship skills are developed alongside academic learning.
Through problem-based and inquiry-based activities, the Life Skills’ Toolbox project also supports STEM-related learning and analytical thinking. Students are encouraged to observe, question, analyze, and propose solutions to real-life challenges. This approach strengthens their problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and ability to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications.

In terms of social sciences and citizenship education, the project helps students develop intercultural awareness and a sense of global citizenship. Working with peers from different countries allows students to compare perspectives, respect diversity, and better understand social, cultural, and ethical issues. Collaborative discussions and joint tasks promote empathy, cooperation, and mutual understanding.
Finally, the project strongly contributes to the development of 21st-century life skills. Students improve communication, collaboration, creativity, responsibility, and self-management skills while working in teams and managing project tasks. As a result, the Life Skills’ Toolbox project is effectively integrated into lessons, supporting both academic outcomes and students’ personal development in a friendly, meaningful, and engaging learning environment.

English Language Curriculum (MEB):
The project contributes to MEB English curriculum goals by improving students’ communication skills through authentic language use. Students practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing while collaborating with international partners, preparing digital content, and expressing ideas related to daily life and personal development.

• Social Studies / Citizenship and Democracy Education (MEB):
Project activities support curriculum outcomes related to social participation, responsibility, empathy, cooperation, respect for differences, and decision-making. Students engage in discussions and collaborative tasks that promote active citizenship and social awareness.
• Guidance and Psychological Counseling / Personal Development (MEB):
The project aligns with MEB objectives focusing on self-awareness, emotional regulation, problem-solving, stress management, goal setting, and interpersonal communication. Life skills activities help students apply these outcomes in real-life situations.
• Information Technologies and Software (MEB):
Students use Web 2.0 tools in line with MEB digital competence goals. They develop skills in digital content creation, online collaboration, information sharing, and safe and ethical internet use.
• Values Education (MEB):
The project supports core values emphasized by MEB such as responsibility, cooperation, respect, honesty, and self-confidence. These values are embedded naturally through teamwork, reflection activities, and project-based learning.
• Student-Centered and Project-Based Learning:
In line with MEB’s constructivist approach, the project encourages active participation, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and learning by doing.
Through this integration, Life Skills Toolbox reinforces MEB curriculum outcomes while enabling students to transfer academic knowledge into daily life and develop 21st-century life skills.

The “Life Skills Toolbox” project, which is carried out within the scope of the Biology course, aims to make students associate biological knowledge with life by addressing them in an integrated structure with different disciplines such as geography, economy, occupational health and safety, entrepreneurship, personal development and citizenship education. Within the framework of geography and economic integration, students work on the use of natural resources, the effects of environmental factors on human health, the relationship of eating habits with geographical conditions and the biological foundations of sustainable development. By examining the climate, agriculture and nutrition patterns of different countries, comparisons are made in the context of healthy living and environmental awareness, and this process increases students’ global citizenship and environmental responsibility awareness.
